I am a San Francisco Bay fine-art photographer and poet originally from Chicago. I started taking pictures in 1997 and received a BFA in photography from the University of Illinois U/C in 2003.
I still shoot film sometimes and never use a flash. I use a Minolta x700, Mamiya 645 ProTl and Sony a77. My Konica Minolta 7d has been retired.
I'm married to Sam. We rescued a retired greyhound named Violet and a cat named Claude. RIP Leeloo the cat and Dante the lion-head rabbit.
I enjoy exploring all of the food possibilities, previously in Chicago, now in the Bay Area. I am also a big fan of sport.
I sometimes write poetry (it comes and goes, but you can find some in my blog and in the book above).
I once asked my wife Sam, "If you could describe my work in one word, what would it be?" She said, "Honest. Some may not like it but your imagery is honest. It's impossible for you to be fake." Thank you Sam. In a recent blog entry I also came up with this description:
Light and shadow based photography with distinct mood and vague subject matter.
I hope you enjoy my honest photographs of light and shadows.
You will find imagery from weddings, pregnancies and engagements in my events gallery. If you have any interest in hiring me to creatively document your occasion, I'd be happy to discuss that possibility.(click to email me)
